Why Charismatic Microflora?

There's a term used in biology, "charismatic macrofauna" which refers to any obvious and usually cuddly animal. Think pandas, bats, etc. It’s used when people focus on the big stuff rather than the little things. Since my specialization is a little thing that people ignore (or when it becomes obvious, the want to get rid of it) my husband and I made this turn on the phrase, hence "charismatic microflora".
